Assistant Facilities Manager

Description
Assistant Facilities Manager responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of the buildings and grounds, as well as assisting in the supervision of the plant operations staff which includes maintenance, grounds, and custodial employees. He/she is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, cleaning, safety and upkeep of the physical plant, grounds and school vehicles, for utility support, for construction planning and oversight, for manpower and facility backup for school events, dealing with outside vendors and supply companies, and for ordering maintenance supplies. The Assistant Manager will be on call for emergencies on a rotating schedule, typically every five weeks and 24 hours a day every other week of the year. Preferred education and/or experience: experience in HVAC, OSHA regulations, equipment repair, plumbing and electrical.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must possess the following skills/requirements: good communication skills (written and oral), mathematical skills, a valid residential driver’s license with a safe driving record, familiarity with computerized spreadsheets, e-mail, and word processing. In addition, all MCI employees are required to pass a background check with Maine DOE.

Education
Preferred education and/or experience: experience in HVAC, OSHA regulations, equipment repair, plumbing and electrical. Purpose
Under the general direction of the Head of School and working closely with the MCI Administrative Team, lead the design and implementation of programs and practices that will improve short and long-term fundraising results, strengthen connections with alumni and friends, and enhance MCI’s reputation and visibility among all stakeholders, in order to ensure that MCI has the resources and support needed to meet the school’s educational mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Work with the Head of School, MCI administrative team and faculty to identify needs and develop the funding/marketing/communications strategies to meet those needs.

Plan and execute successful and timely Annual Fund activities, including one-year and multi-year goals, with timeframes and metrics to monitor growth.

Plan and execute a Major Gifts program (identify/cultivate/solicit major gift prospects) including Legacy Gift opportunities.
-
Plan and execute activities and events that help locate alumni, connect alumni with each other and with the School, and increase their interest in and support of MCI, including annual events such as the Alumni Reunion and other awards ceremonies.

Seek opportunities to build relationships with local/regional businesses or other organizations in order to increase support of all types, e.g., financial, gifts-in-kind, student activities and internships, speakers, mentors/tutors, etc.

Work closely with CFO/Business Office to ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures related to fundraising/stewardship of funds.

Provide direction and training to volunteers of all types and across situations.
-
Manage the department budget.

Serve as a resource to Trustee Advancement Committee
Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and expertise.

10+ years’ experience in nonprofit Advancement, preferably in education and/or arts
-
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with donors/prospective donors, solicitor teams, class agents, faculty/staff, alumni, trustees, local community members, Foundations, vendors and consultants.

Manage successful Annual Funds

Plan and manage successful Capital/Comprehensive Campaigns

Plan and execute creative Alumni activities (Reunion, etc.)

Capture gifts from individuals (alumni and others) and foundations

Weekend Cook/ Supervisor - Prep Cook

Summary: This position reports to the Director of Dining Services and to the Chef. The Supervisor is responsible for set up, service and clean up for the weekend meal service. The Director or Chef may assign other duties as required. This is a full time position with hours that is determined by the Director of Dining Services and Sous Chef.
Regularly Scheduled Days/Hours:
Saturday & Sunday - Split Shift - 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Brunch) and 3:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (Dinner). Wednesday, Thursday & Friday – Prep Cook 10:30 am – 7:30 pm. Other days may be scheduled as mutually agreed with Director and Chef.

Job Description:
Maine Central Institute is a town academy high school located in Pittsfield, Maine. Approximately
400 students attend MCI in grades 9-12. This number includes students from a variety of towns in
the central Maine area along with students from other states and countries from around the world.
More than 60 students live on campus in dormitories.
MCI is looking for an experienced custodian; Monday - Friday 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Candidate
will be responsible for general cleaning of school buildings and must be professional, have
custodial experience, and be a self-motivated person with the ability to work independently.
Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED is required.
