Qualifications

Position Description:
Maine Central Institute is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of Director of Athletics and
Activities with a start date of July 1. As the leader of the athletic and co-curricular programs, the Director of
Athletics and Activities will set the highest standard for program excellence and provide the leadership
necessary to support that standard. The successful candidate will be visionary, attentive, and be extremely
detail-oriented. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
● Hiring, supporting, and retaining the highest quality coaches and advisors.
● Scheduling of games, practices, and facility use including coordinating with outside organizations
regarding functions using athletic facilities.
● Increasing student participation rates through active and intentional outreach within the student body.
● Setting and maintaining standards for student-athlete participation regarding academics, attendance,
behavior, and representing the team and school appropriately.
● Developing a rapport with community members, the middle school, and recreation departments to
provide reciprocal support for programs.
● Ensuring that athletic venues are well maintained and set up according to school standards of excellence.
● Ordering and obtaining necessary resources for programs through a comprehensive budgeting process
and fiscally responsible practices.
● Maintaining, updating, and recording participation lists and rosters.
Requirements/Qualifications:
The Director of Athletics and Activities will be a member of the Administrative Team and will work in the Student Life Office where they will assist with tasks associated with the office. This is a 52-week position with 4 weeks of paid vacation per year. Maine Central Institute is a town academy serving both day and boarding
students. The school naturally expects all faculty and staff to be involved in all aspects of student life both during the week and on weekends as members of rotating duty teams.
Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a B.S. or B.A. in an associated field and a minimum of 5 years of teaching, administrative, and/or coaching experience.

Maine Central Institute (MCI) is immediately hiring a full-time team player who is an HVAC Tech with boiler experience. Our team has a wide range of experience and training to fulfill many responsibilities on campus.
We serve the students and staff daily in the repair of damage/worn out objects, preventive maintenance, we assist staff, coordinate activities and encourage one another. The team works closely with the school
community in the daily preparation of school activities.
MCI is a town academy serving approximately 370 students. We have three dormitory buildings housing about
90 students from Maine to international students. There are about 70 full-time faculty and staff members.
Requirements for applicants:
*Must have HVAC and plumbing experience - 1 year minimum (preferred)
*Must have boiler repair experience – 5 years minimum (preferred).
*Must have a valid State of Maine Oil Burner Technician license #1 & 2 oils up to 15 GPH minimum or obtain
the license within six months.
*Must have a valid Maine Propane and Natural Gas License or obtain within six months.
*Must possess a clean driver's license.
*Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferences:
*Working knowledge of heat pumps, maintenance and installation or willing to get training.
*Prefer applicant to have 5 years’ experience with hot water, steam and hot air heating systems.
*Propane knowledge a definite plus.
*Must have troubleshooting capabilities.
Education:

Work location:

*Perform preventative maintenance in an effort to increase efficiencies and reduce downtime.
*Perform minor installation or modification work on heating and cooling systems and controls, including
planning the work; ordering materials and service the equipment required.
*Ability to use hand tools and testing/measuring devices.
*Ability to accurately maintain equipment inventory and history records.
*Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
*Must be able to respond to after-hour call-ins.
*Participate in on-call duty rotation.
*Ability to drive a plow truck or tractor and shovel snow when needed.

Residential Hall Director

Maine Central Institute is seeking a candidate for the position of Residential Hall Director with the main function being to
oversee all aspects of one of the three residential halls on campus. Creating and maintaining safe supervision of students,
leadership of staff, setting/maintaining standards of student conduct, and creating/communicating/updating schedules as they pertain to both staffing and student needs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring that all aspects of the dorm are consistent with MCI’s mission and operating principles.
• Providing staff evaluation formally and/or informally.
• Meeting at least once a week with their residential staff. The three residential directors will meet
regularly each week as a group.
• Being a role model for both staff and students.
• Being an on-going presence in the dorm
• Maintaining regular communication with students, parents, staff, faculty, and administration.
• Ensuring that the dorm is supervised at all times and will assist the staff in the performance of their duties through training. The dorm director will be responsible for providing reciprocal coverage when arrangements with other staff are not possible.
• Being responsible for discipline in the dorm.
• Being fully involved in each student’s academic and personal well-being.
• Being responsible for maintaining safety, cleanliness, and building maintenance standards.
• Assisting the Wellness Center in getting students to appointments.
• Assisting the students with travel and vacation plans.
• Promoting and facilitating involvement in activities and integration with other students.
• Performing any other duties necessary to create and maintain the best residential living culture
possible.
Requirements/Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; OR two to three years related experience and/or training; OR
equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates for the position should have knowledge and/or
experience with issues of diversity, race, adolescent growth and development, conflict management, and community
living. Candidates should possess a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and certificates in First Aid and CPR (or
a willingness to get them).
