Meet Our Advancement Office Staff

Tom Bertrand

Assistant Head of School for Advancement

After graduating from MCI in 1990 Tom went to the University of Maine to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health in 1994. After teaching and coaching in the Millinocket School system, his family moved to Winslow for a year where he taught and coached for a year before returning home to MCI in 2002 as the Dean of Residential Life and Head Football Coach. In 2023, Tom has transitioned to the new role of Assistant Head of School for Advancement. He lives on campus with wife, Karin, sons Alex '16 and Adam '18, and step-daughter Josie '19.

 

Abby Fleming

Alumni and Donor Relations Officer

Abby Fleming joins us as MCI's new Alumni and Donor Relations Officer. She graduated from Stonehill College earlier this year, majoring in Business Management and Healthcare Management. Abby has previously worked for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island doing donor/volunteer coordination and outreach, organization of events, and creation of marketing materials. She has also worked with MaineHealth, where she was in charge of data entry, prospect research, and donor communications. A native of Bangor, Abby enjoys spending time with her family (especially her three nephews), going on walks and hikes, and is a big country music fan.

Sharon Savasuk

Sharon was raised in southern California, and moved to Maine shortly after getting married. Her husband was born and raised in Winslow, so they decided to move home. After ten years in banking and 21 years at a paper company, Sharon came to MCI in 2000 and has been working in the advancement/alumni office ever since, often the first point of contact for MCI alums and  Mrs. Savasuk has two children and six granddaughters, and her best times are when her entire family is together.
