Founded in 1866, Maine Central Institute (MCI) engages a multicultural student body with diverse abilities and interests in a rigorous and comprehensive college and career preparatory experience. In a safe and nurturing environment, students develop self-esteem, academic skills, and social responsibility to be thoughtful global citizens and lifelong learners.
Academics
MCI offers several courses to prepare students for a changing world. You choose the classes that work for your schedule and meet your academic goals. MCI’s academic and career counselors help you decide which courses are best for you to achieve those goals.
Life @MCI
At MCI, we emphasize respect, honesty, care, safety, and responsibility. These values are evident throughout the campus and in the surrounding community, where the locals are comfortable interacting with people from different backgrounds, interests, and beliefs.
Athletics
At MCI, we believe that athletics is an important part of the educational process and a dynamic lesson in teamwork and personal dedication. We offer a comprehensive athletic program for student-athletes of varying levels of ability, and many of our sports teams have achieved state championships and our players have won recognition for sportsmanship, team spirit, and personal excellence.
Arts
MCI's Art Department believes that anyone can understand and apply basic visual art techniques and concepts to create images, express themselves and analyze their own art work, as well as the work of others. Students may also prepare an art portfolio for college or freelance work opportunities.
