MAKE A GIFT

Greetings MCI Alumni, Family, and Friends,

Happy March!  Experiencing outdoor ice-skating and skiing at the Pinnacle and tapping maple trees are the wonders of central Maine that our students are enjoying in these final Winter days.  After a successful Winter Carnival, we finish up the winter athletic season on March 12.  While wrestlers were not able to compete and basketball players did not have a state tournament, lessons were learned, teamwork was emphasized, and the values of hard work and discipline were reinforced.  Looking ahead, our baseball and softball pitchers and catchers begin on March 22 with the full Spring season of sports in bloom on the 29th.  Speaking of blooming, we also had our "pajama party" sit-down dinner on March 3—another favorite event and wishful thinking for warmer days.  Earlier that day, Nancy Hughes, class of 1987, and our Key Club completed a successful community Blood Drive with the Red Cross in Parks Gym. Also, an exciting program will be offered this upcoming year at MCI—Navy Jr. ROTC! Another avenue/choice for our students, starting next school year, 2021-22,  designed to help today's youth meet life's challenges. The mission of the program is to instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.

Finally, after careful consideration and preparation, we are moving to four days of in-person instruction as early as March 15.  We are excited to get the students back on campus and rebuild our community safely again; remote learning does not fulfill that MCI family feeling that we treasure and work hard to create for students and families.

As mentioned in the last letter, Nick Miller, class of 2009, is Editor-in-Chief of the summer Alumnus magazine.  Should you have ideas or wish to contribute in any way, he certainly values your input.  We are beginning to plan our Alumni Reunion with a golf outing on Friday, August 6, and the day's events on August 7.  The theme of this event will be celebrating the conclusion of our Founder's Campaign and its accomplishments.  Sharon and the Alumni Association are already in the planning stage, so please reach out with your ideas and suggestions for what we hope will be the best reunion yet.

We continue looking for more class agents as some classes are still missing representatives. Please feel free to reach out to the Alumni Association officers, to me, to Tom, to Sharon, to whoever you feel connected with at the school.  You can follow the happenings of the Association on their MCI Alumni Association Facebook, the MCI Facebook, @MCI Twitter, @MCI.School Instagram, or our frequently updated Website. Also, AmazonSmile offers the shopper in you a way to contribute to MCI—please consider :)

All the Best,
