December 1st, 2020
Greetings MCI Alumni, Family, and Friends,
I hope you and your families had a relaxing Thanksgiving Holiday. Here at MCI, we had on-campus celebrations with a week full of activities for our boarding students as the dormitories remained open and many students chose to stay here. We also launched the holiday season with a series of "THANK YOU!" messages from the students to the faculty and staff for all they have done throughout these challenging times. In addition, the "Kindness Krew" with their leader, Mrs. Libby, prepared Thanksgiving baskets for those in need in our local community. Thanks to all of you who have supported and continue to support MCI through your financial contributions, your volunteerism, and your sharing of talents with our students, faculty, and staff. This support is necessary for us to continue to innovate and to offer the best academic, athletic, visual and performing arts, and club programming.
A special thank you to our Alumni Association for putting together our first Zoom Trivia Night on November 28. We had twelve participants in our maiden voyage, and congratulations to our winner, Hector Bligh, class of 2022. We would like to continue with more activities for local and distant alumni, and if you have some ideas for activities, please let us know. We are still looking for more class agents as some classes are missing representatives. Please feel free to reach out to the Alumni Association officers, to me, to Tom, to Sharon, to whomever you feel connected with at the school. You can follow the happenings of the Association on their MCI Alumni Association Facebook, the MCI Facebook, @MCI Twitter, @MCI.School Instagram, or our frequently updated Website.
Our winter sports seasons are due to begin on December 7. Basketball is the only one happening (wrestling postponed until February). We have added ninth grade teams, and there is much enthusiasm to get on with the season. Games will be streamed due to indoor seating capacity restrictions. Be sure to check out our MCI Athletics FB page for dates and times. On December 9, we will be celebrating our Cultural Heritage Day @ 9am, and this, too, will be streamed live. We have students from twenty-three countries on campus, and two others represented with on-line learning (Cambodia and Taiwan). Indeed, MCI touches the world. Finally, the Key Club and their leader, Mrs. Hughes, sold poinsettias to raise funds to provide families with gifts. This year, it looks like we will be buying for 12 families. The tradition and spirit of MCI community giving is alive and well.
A reminder that February 1, 2021, will be our Annual Fund Day of Giving (chosen on the founding of MCI, February 1, 1866). Of course, your financial support is most welcome anytime. Enjoy your Christmas holiday, and thank you for supporting your alma mater.
All the Best,
