Boys Tennis
The MCI Boys Tennis Team has experienced great success, with 4 straight trips to the regional semifinals, being the 2024 & 2025 Class C South regional finalist, and having multiple players reach the State Singles Tournament and earn individual accolades over that time. The Huskies play in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) at the Class C level. The season runs from late-March through mid-June with matches against other Maine high schools.
Boys Tennis was one of the original sports offered at MCI beginning in 1893, and the program continues to benefit from many factors, including full use of the Manson Park Tennis Facility in Pittsfield, which features four beautiful courts and a state of the art hitting backboard just a 5-minute walk from campus. Additionally, MCI is conveniently located between two indoor tennis facilities in Maine. Head Coach Kyle Holmstrom, the KVAC Boys Tennis Coach of the Year in 2023 and 2025, is assisted by several knowledgeable assistant coaches, who work tirelessly to help players across the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams strive to reach their potential.
A great team culture underpins the program, evidenced by the Huskies earning the 2023 MPA Northern Maine Class C Sportsmanship Award. The philosophy of the program is that by focusing great attention on building tennis skills within a fun and competitive team environment, MCI students will have a great experience, enjoy success on the court, and carry important lessons in commitment, perseverance, and teamwork with them into their futures off the court.
