Athletics

The athletics program at Maine Central Institute supplements the school's academic programming and provide student-athletes with important life skills and memorable experiences, as well as fostering health and well-being. We offer a comprehensive athletic program for student-athletes of varying levels of ability. Many of our teams have won state and conference championships and our players have won recognition for sportsmanship, team spirit, and personal excellence.

Our Athletic Teams

Our 20 athletic teams provide opportunities for students to participate in several sports teams throughout the academic year. We offer three athletic seasons, and those seasons are filled with a variety of different individual and team sports that are sure to cover all interests and skill levels.

Athletic Handbook

We ask all student-athletes and their parents/guardians to carefully read and fill out our Athletic Handbook, as well as fill out all health and safety forms on Magnus Health before participating in an MCI athletic activity or sport.

A History of Championship Athletics

Maine Central Institute has a history of competing at the highest level of athletic achievement. In the past decade, MCI has taken home over 20 team and individual State Championship titles in the sports of the Girls Tennis, Boys Tennis, Field Hockey, Football, Wrestling, Golf, Track and Field, and eSports.

I really enjoy the sports atmosphere here at MCI, I think it’s a welcoming and inclusive community. The variety of sports and just being able to be an athlete... Being an athlete means you take pride in working hard and being a good teammate.”
