Summer Intensive

Due to COVID-19 Bossov Ballet Theatre (BBT) will be offering a modified version of its annual summer program running from July 6-31st.

BBT has been closely following guidelines and mandates issued by the Department of Education and the State of Maine for overnight summer camps in order to prepare for a safe and responsible experience for all students and staff.

BBT will refund all payments already made should COVID-19 related circumstances make it impossible for a student to attend this summer.

Our priority will always remain the safety and health of our dancers. BBT will continue to monitor and update plans as necessary, following all federal, state and CDC guidelines and mandates.

For more details, please refer to the bolded italic text below.

Bossov Ballet Theatre's six-week summer program is designed to replicate a professional company performance experience by participating in a full-scale production that takes students from the classroom to the stage. In addition to an intense focus on technical development provided by a carefully selected group of  Vaganova teaching professionals, the artistry and performance skills acquired from participating in a full length, professional-level production creates students ready for company success.

In addition, the program provides comprehensive Russian training with a strong emphasis on technique, pointe, partnering, variation and character.

July 6 to July 31, 2020

Please note that for 2020, BBT will not offer a full-scale performance due to social distancing concerns.

The six-week intensive culminates with a full-scale performance at a professional theatre. Three public performances are held at the end of the Intensive. Productions staged over the past four years include Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, and Swan Lake. In 2020 we will present a full scale production of Don Quixote.

Classes and rehearsals are held Monday through Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m., with a break for lunch. The following courses are available:

There may be additional rehearsals on Saturdays.

Since contact with the outside community needs careful consideration and control, extra attention will be given to extracurricular activities held on campus following classes and at weekends. More details to come.

Summer weekends are mainly dedicated to optional recreational activities that explore the beautiful state of Maine or allow students to simply relax on campus. In past summers, students participated in fencing, astronomy parties, carriage rides through Acadia National Park, canoeing, outdoor adventure, nature exploration, swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, plein air fine art lessons, and worked on team-building skills on a low ropes course in Freeport.
