Norman Nelson writes, “I just wanted to personally thank you for your kind service, especially the young lady at the registration table, at Saturday's Alumni Luncheon. I was in the area with my daughter for a 90th birthday celebration for my sister-in-law. My daughter and I felt it would be a good idea to take some time to walk through the campus, and see all the improvements made in the last 74 years.”
“I grew up just outside of Boston and graduated from North Quincy HS in 1948 as a 17 year old. I went right to work in a factory for the next two years, and felt it was enough, and I wanted to further my education. I had spent those two years working, and playing semi-pro football, basketball and baseball at night and weekends. Semi-pro sports were big in those days. A friend of my father in Quincy told him of MCI. Mac and his wife Beth McCausland graduated from MCI together in the 20's or 30's. I got a scholarship, and the end of August 1950 I was on my way to MCI as a 19 year old PG student!”
“My reason for some back history is to inform you that this move was my first life- changing event of my life. I met a young girl who was a senior town student. In short, we became a couple and graduated together on June 10, 1951. We married on June 29, 1951 in Quincy, MA. Well, that year completely changed my life direction. That girl, Julie Reynolds, who was the 1951 Class Historian. I had the privilege to play football, basketball and baseball for MCI, and it ended up the best year of my life
and set the direction of my future, which in 1948, was pretty much stalled. We were married for 39 years, as she passed in 1990. What I'm trying to say, as I look back on the past 74 years is a huge “Thank You” to MCI for my life long experience that I will never forget. During these past years and before, several of my wife's siblings have been MCI students. Thank you, MCI for these memorable years.”

Janice Cianchette Hawkins, David Pattee, Judie Mercier Vacchina and Nancy Ross Cameron enjoyed lunch
at summer reunion. There was a Dick Gordon siting at the breakfast meeting. Donna Richardson Glenn and family
will be returning to Maine for a summer vacation. Martha Menendez Mourkas family returned from AZ for a holiday visit. Sophia Kellis is enjoying retirement in Mt. Vernon ,WA. Joan Hefferen Bradstreet keeps busy with volunteer work. Red MacMichael reports that he has twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren, that is enough for his own basketball team!

Erick Johanson writes that he recently met with the remaining living members of the class of 1967 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets regimental staff in Blacksburg, VA. They also met with the current cadet regimental staff and the entire Commandant staff including the new Commandant (retired Marine Corps Major General Seely). They also observed an entire Corps Reveille
one morning; special Gregory Guard drill performance; and campus tour of the cadet upper quad including the new cadet living quarters and new military science building. The VTCC had an outstanding program for us on our return to the campus. The VA Tech Corps of Cadets is the number one ROTC unit for both the army and navy for all universities in America and one of the top air force units.

Ron Kinney writes “Still residing in Avon Ct. It's been my main residence for many years. Always return after stints in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York and California. Have been vacationing in Florida, the Carolinas and other warm places for the winters and visited MCI alumni Ben Doody at his winter home this year while in Florida. Recently attended Pittsburg Pennsylvania wedding of my grand niece, Erica Vuocolo, daughter of Tammy Thompson Vuocolo. Tammy is an MCI grad.”
Greetings! Here's an update on our 60th Class reunion on August 3, 2024 at the Pittsfield Ski Pinnacle catered by Mike Dugas. Some of our class also attended breakfast and lunch on the school campus. A special thank you to the following classmates who helped support our 60th class reunion and later afternoon lunch: Carole Daily Vigue, Tom Savage, Jeff Hathorn, Joe and Karoldene Barnes, Jane Woodcock Woodruff, Steve Barnes, Ed Toulouse, Crystal Hunt Cyr, Ben Doody, Frank (Tom) Haseltine, Lowell Martin, Bob Menucci, Pat Dow, Barbara Vigue Day. We enjoyed looking through scrapbooks and photos from 1960 to 1964 that Jane brought.
At our get-together were Joe and Karoldene Barnes, Steve Barnes, Carleen Cianchette Carlson and JC, Frank Chaffin, Rita Flood Bubar, Frank Dunton, Paul Garabedian, Bob Menucci, Mike Gordon, Carl Curtis, Ralph and Roberta Damren, Carolyn and Buzz Belanger, Pat Dow, Jeff Hathorn, 'Tom' and Anne Haseltine, Crystal Hunt Cyr, Marlene Hunt Wade and her husband, Ron Kinney Ben Doody, Brian McMann, Lowell Martin, Glenda McMann Weymouth and George, Leon and Lee Southard, Ed Toulouse, Ron Farrin, Rae Philbrick and Jim Tozier, Linda Tozier Dean and her family, Bob Mercier and wife Linda, Jane Woodcock Woodruff, Greg Wright, Shirley Vigue Humphrey. Glenn Hinckley passed December 31, 2024 of Parkinson's and Parkinson's Dementia. He often spoke of his school friends from MCI, and was sad that he had not kept in touch. There was a Celebration of Life at the Universalist Church of West Sumner, Maine (04292) May 10, 2025. Glenn's 'sweetheart' of 20 years, Linda Smith.

Dalen Mills writes “I am going to have to step down as class agent. My wife's issues with cancer, two major surgeries with broken neck, another fall recently that has led to another broken neck, a hip replacement, another fall resulting in broken ribs and a lacerated kidney, and assorted other issues have me being her live in caretaker, friend and husband. Her most recent fall has her in a cervical neck collar for the next 3 months and our plans to be in SW Harbor are very unlikely for this summer and being in downtown Florida is much more realistic (love hurricanes,
hot as hell, humidity off the charts) Why wouldn't one love Florida in the summer and fall? So, participating in the Reunion Weekend is not something that I can likely do and I will miss it. Also, I am just really tired and I don't have the time, or more to the point, the will, to continue as class agent. I've made several pleas to the class of '66 to take part in the Reunion Weekend seemingly to no avail. We have a diminishing core of classmates who have shown up but several have passed away or have their mates pass away and don't come. I don't think that I can stimulate anyone of the class of '66 to all of a sudden, after almost 60 years since graduation, and life, after MCI, into coming to the reunions. 2026 will be our 60th year and I truly hope that fact, if you are still alive and reading this, will have you going to our 60th. God willing, I hope to be there to enjoy the event with as many classmates as possible. Dalen, out..........”

Martha Lloyd writes “Fun family trip to Italy last summer. First, Jim and I spent a week in Florence to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. What a lovely place that is! Art everywhere and gelato shops every few blocks! Then we traveled to the Ravenna area for another week and met up with our daughter and her Hong Kong Dragon Boat team, plus our son and daughter-in-law, who live in the Seattle area, to watch LOTS of dragon boating at the Club (as opposed to national teams) World Championships. FUN! We stayed in Cesenatico, Italy, right on the Adriatic Sea. Ate lots of fresh and delicious food, and enjoyed our kids' and the other fans company.”
David England writes “Susan and I have had a busy winter. We moved from RI. to Maine. We now live in Topsham. I am still enjoying retirement and a part time job working at a local hardware store. Susan and I are looking forward to exploring the state of Maine more in depth. I am looking forward to our upcoming 55th class reunion. I hope that as many of you who can attend will join us at this year's event.”
Bill Cunningham reports he still enjoys xc skiing every chance he gets during the winter months – mostly at Quarry Road in Waterville that has excellent trail conditions most of the season due to its snow-making system. However, his favorite area to ski is on a loop from his house down the old “sliding hill” and athletic fields behind MCI and up the rail trail to a loop around the golf course. He says skiing this area on a cold, clear winter day as the sun is rising always brings back a lot of fond memories of his xc ski team days at MCI.
This is our 55th Class Reunion and there are lots of chances for some “quality time” hanging out with your old classmates from your MCI/Warsaw days at the Reunion Weekend August 1-2. Members from the Classes of 1969 and 1971 are also invited to join us at our informal 55th Reunion meet up at the Broken Putter on Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm. Hope to see many of you in Pittsfield at these fun events!

Pat Inman Thibault writes, “Hello to all you '72- and “looking fine -ers” out there! I must say that it has been a lonely few years of being Class Agent. I really thought that all we needed was for one of us to declare as Class Agent and everyone would just start filling up the pages of the Alumnus with us. Oh well... Anyway, my husband retired from Portland High School in 2017 and I retired from Greely High School in 2018. Our first and so far only grandchild was born later that year - good timing, I'd say. He is living with us now so that he can attend school in our district. After a few years of not getting up at 5 am in post retirement, we are now back on school schedules! Some days I tell myself that I might as well go back to teaching and then I come to my senses! Phil and I loved our careers but we also love not having lessons to plan, papers to correct, and summer workshops to attend. There is one other thing that I would love: hearing from and reading about the graduates of the Class of 1972. I have e-mails for some of you but not all (that is a hint to send your e-mail to me). You can send your news directly to the school or to me (plit1954@yahoo. com). And please remember that Reunion is always the first weekend in August. The year doesn't have to end in a “2” or a “7” in order to attend and see old friends. The Saturday luncheon is going to start earlier (11:30 am) so that class get-togethers can start before 1:30 pm. Have a wonderful summer, please get in touch and send us your news!”
What a pleasure it was to find a note from Bob Morrison in my inbox! He writes that he is a mostly retired mechanical engineer, living primarily in the mid-coast region of Maine. He went on to say that he recently had dinner with Doug Frati in Belfast, ME. If you haven't seen Doug's amazing work, check it out at Instagram @doug_ frati_art.
Wendi Susi St. Clair writes that she retired last December after 42 years at CM Almy. She was married for 43 years until her husband's death in 2022. Two of her children still live locally and one is in Massachusetts. She is lucky to have three grandsons - Parker 22, Levi 14, and AJ 6. She has been able to spend time with some of her childhood friends (Shirley, Candy, and Candy), a great thing to be able to do. She doesn't have any major plans, just seeing where retirement takes her.
Wasn't it great to read about some of our classmates? Maybe next time more of you will share what's been going on in your lives. You can send me info any time and I'll compile the notes or you can send it directly to the Alumni Office if you prefer.

Dawna DeBeck Brasier writes, “Doing well. Living in Dexter, Maine. I have 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Semi-retired as well. Working at Reny's in Dexter, Maine 2 days a week. Hello everyone!”
Susan Smith England writes, “Greetings classmates, Winter has passed and now we can begin to enjoy some delightful spring weather and look forward to what summer has to bring.
I am sorry to share with you the passing of Tom Quint last fall. Not only was Tom our senior class president, he was a great supporter of our class reunions over the years. He was always willing to lend a hand in any way possible and I'm fairly certain Tom never missed a reunion!
Recently, while on vacation in Santa Barbara, CA, Lynn Cianchette had the chance to meet and visit with Denise Susi and her husband, Eric. Pam Kelley Rogoski writes that she made the Big Move back to Maine in November with a cross-country jaunt combined. Upon her return, she survived her first snowstorm in 12 years and remembered how to use a shovel. She is very happy to be back in Pittsfield. Welcome home, Pam!
Like Pam, David and I were busy moving during the first few months of 2025. We purchased a condominium in Topsham. It feels good to be back in Maine once again.”

We had a fantastic time celebrating our 50th reunion last August. We filled 3 tables at the reunion luncheon at school and then had a fun time at the party at Jim and Pam Dunphy's house. The following classmates attended either or both of the functions:
Donna Baker Dunton, Brian Bane, Cressell Bickford, Terry Booth, Laura Cianchette, Susan Cianchette Koch, Jeff Crate, Patti Davis Buck, Jim Dunphy, Leverett Fernald, Scott Hammond, Duska Hikel, Donna Huff, Priscilla Jones, Ivy Lary Yeo, Vera Lloyd Bryant, Bob Matthews, Debbie Morra Lemus, Pat McGowan, Sylvia McNichol, Dan Nash, Ronnie Rollins, Myron Sobey, Keith Thompson (attended grade school with us but did not graduate from MCI), Terry Thornton (attended grade school with us but did not graduate from MCI), Dorothy Wilkins Anderson, Frank Woodworth, Randa Wright. Randa traveled from Costa Rica to join us. She wins the prize for coming the furthest. There is no actual prize but we were happy that she made the trip.
Johnny Kosnow writes that he is a writer, author of nine books, a 4-time World Powerlifting Champion. He has a 35 year career at Maine Health, and is a Planning Board Member, a private pilot, and has been in 400 races.

Nancy Ballard Harrison writes that she is still working part-time as a CRNA. She enjoys anesthesia clinical ca and educating future CRNAs. Hobbies are traveling – including medical mission trips to Philippines, Kenya, Bolivia, and Honduras – and Sailing (not around the world, but all over the world!).
From Bud Ingraham: Here we are 50 years later looking to celebrate this milestone! I have been working with a few classmates to have a 50th celebration. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and hear of their successes over the past 50 years. I know many are telling their grandchildren. Wow!!!
Over the years bringing us to graduation, we were a class that felt each other's pain and reveled in each of our successes. We showed up when needed and celebrated our triumphs as a class or individually.
I have spoken to many classmates over the past few months and it looks like a great turnout for our reunion. Brian Duplisea has had his share of health issues but is finding his way to Maine for reunion. Francine Randall Mathew is living in SW Harbor and will be attending. Kitti Rogers Trudell has sold her long time home in NH and moved to NC and will summer in NH. I have heard from Karen Reynolds McGrady and she will attend and doing well. Of course I see Matt McGowan and Mike Susi as they are helping with Reunion Plans. Mike has moved to Gardner and remodeled
his wife Deb's family home. She is still at MCI with a major role as head of the Arts Department. Kevin Bryant is always a big help and I see he and Vera often. Janet Carter Winchester is still in Etna and I toot my horn when going by on So. Interstate 95. I have heard from Kime Holman and he is hoping to come for our reunion. Please bring Brad and others from NYC! Dave Barden is in the area and I see him at the grocery store from time to time as well as Rick Merrithew.
On a somber note, we lost Mark Huffer this past year. I saw Mark on occasion and we talked fondly of time gone by.
I am asking all to come to our 50th reunion and participate in the golf tournament on Friday, August 1 beginning at 8 am. Friday evening the Awards Ceremony will take place in the Dining Room at 5:00, where our very own Mike Bolster and Andrea Cianchette Maker will each receive the Distinguished Achievement Award. After that, in conjunction with the Broken Putter, we will have live entertainment with Alex Bertrand singing his heart out. If you have never heard him, you are in for a real treat.
Follow the planned events for Saturday August 2nd and join us for the annual meeting and the luncheon under the tent. All 50th class celebrants and a guest are paid for by the Alumni Association.
After the luncheon we will make our way to Bryant's Brewing for our 50th class celebration with live music by the band Middle Ground. Really good so bring your dancing shoes! The setting is on Moose Pond or now Great Moose Lake. Drive up to 1009 Great Moose Drive, Hartland, ME. Light hors d'oeuvres provided and the band paid for by generous classmates. Bryant's Brewing is owned by fellow alum Bob Bryant '78 and boasts craft beer and select fresh roasted coffee. It is in a picturesque setting and goes from 2 to 5 pm. Then please join us all for a night at J W Park Golf course and the Broken Putter for live music provided by Leon Southard and Dirty McGurdy.
Let's give a good show for the Class of 1975!!! Go Huskies!!!!!

From Kathy Kelley: Happy spring to you all! In November, Dena Frost Hall and I flew with my sister, Pam Kelley Rogoski '73 to Arizona and moved Pam back to Maine where she is living with Milton Webber '71 and I. We had a wonderful, fun adventure driving across the country back to Pittsfield. We are enjoying having Pam with us! We love to visit with our 5 children who all live in Maine from Berwick to Bar Harbor. I continue with my Hospice nursing – Healthcare has changed so much since the beginning of my career. It can be frustrating, but I am fortunate to enjoy what I do, but look forward to retirement in the next year. I enjoy reading the posts that my classmates have shared – so many memories of the great time we had growing up in this town!

This past year has been hectic to say the least. :) I am still the class agent for 1996 and will be reaching out soon to start planning our 2026 Reunion.
Last fall I was elected to the Pittsfield Recreation Committee. I am giving back by coordinating the volunteers who run the concessions for all our rec events. All three of my amazing children have benefited so much from our town rec it feels good to be able to give back. I have joined forces with MCI and am offering Community Service hours for students who help out. Then kids love seeing the high school students involved.
In December, I also changed jobs. I am now the Director of Customer Success for Unifyed, an India-based EdTech SaaS company. We build student portals and mobile apps for Colleges and Universities. I am thankful to work from home most
of the time and able to get the kids to all of their activities. I am also one of only 5 US employees. This means I get to travel throughout the US to be on campus and train administrators how to use the content management system and leverage the technology we build. I truly enjoy teaching how to leverage the system and putting my masters in Adult and Higher Education to work. I always enjoy catching up and will try to post where I am going in our 1996 Alumni Facebook Group.

Travis Fitts continues to enjoy life on the West Coast, where he resides in Menifee, CA with his wife Samantha and daughter Amiia. Travis has been a factory manager onboard a commercial fishing vessel for the past 24 years. When Travis is not out to sea, he enjoys family gatherings, traveling back to the East Coast visiting family and friends and playing golf. Hopefully he will be able to make it back for our 30th Reunion!
Jennifer Inman Crouse writes, “Hard to believe that we are quickly approaching out 30th reunion! I looked back over the last few class notes and I find it sad that none of us are adding anything. I wonder about where you all have gone in life and what you all have made of your lives. It's nice that we have modern technology to keep some of us connected, and I enjoy seeing where you all are and what you are up to.
I currently live just outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County – lovingly referred to as Delco here! I am married to a wonderful woman and we are quickly approaching the empty nest part of life. Our youngest, Gage, will be graduating in 2026. Our oldest, Damien, is married and gifted us with 2 beautiful grandchildren. He lives 45 minutes away and we see them frequently! Seth, the middle child, is living in Maine with his beautiful girlfriend and all their fur babies. It's strange to be entering this part of life where we won't have a kid in the house and we are free to travel and explore our own pursuits. I work for the County as Director of Older Adult Protective Services. Extremely rewarding, but often times sad work. I'd love to hear more from my fellow classmates and where each of you are in life. Maybe 2027 will be the year more of us show up at reunion.”
Tamara Norris Mann writes, “I have been living in Perth, Western Australia for the past 9 years. I have worked in the dental industry in various roles for over 20 years. I run a free community costume library out of my home, to help spread my love of Halloween here in Australia (It's working!). I also collect monarch and queen caterpillars for the local schools, spreading my love of insects to children (That's also working well!). I have 6 stick insects and 3 leaf insects as pets. I love my garden and grow around 15 varieties of fruit, lots of veggies, dozens of native Australian flowers, and much, much more.”
Marti McNichol Allen is busy down in Southern Maine with her husband Nate and 2 children, Adrianne and Austin. Marti is currently employed as the President of Casco Federal Credit Union. When she is not busy with her children and their immersed sports schedule, she likes to take time to spend at her family camp on Morrill Pond.
Aric Friend and his wife Katie, live in Worcester, MA with their 3 children, Henry (14), Annie (13), and Margot (10). Aric has been a financial advisor for the past 20 years helping people pursue financial goals. After MCI, Aric graduated from Nichols College with his bachelors and master's degree. While Aric was working on his master's degree, he was also coaching at Nichols College. He has been with Merrill Lynch since 2022. Aric continues to stay connected with local sports through high school football refereeing and as an active board member. He held the positions of Vice President and President of the CMCFO refereeing board for central Massachusetts. He enjoys being able to return to Maine to see family and friends when time allows but most of his free time is spent at fields and sporting events with the kids
Michilyn Duplisea-Goldman writes, “Hello everyone, I wanted to share some amazing news with you about my son, Riley Nelson, Class of 2023 alum. Riley applied for a fellowship through the US Department of State. This is a national fellowship and a life changing opportunity. Only 15 are chosen, and I am thrilled to say that Riley is officially one of those 15. He will spend next summer (2026) in Washington DC as an intern, the following summer he will be assigned to a US embassy or consulate abroad for five years. His role will be a foreign affairs diplomatic technology officer. Here, he will work alongside the best of the best. The education provided him throughout his time at MCI helped him achieve his dreams. As his mom, I couldn't be more proud!”
Terri Jean Wilkinson will be going into her last year of coaching Field Hockey for MCI, getting her oldest through his first year of college (he is also an Alumni of MCI, Class of 2024). Her middle child will be a senior and her youngest going into 4th grade. Terri Jean currently manages the Academic Testing Center at Colby College and is excited to transition to Charleston, SC after her senior in HS graduates in 2026.

And a Note from a Former MCI Teacher:
Peter Oliver's 1980 novel, Democracy in America, is now available to readers online at Kindle. Mr. Oliver taught mathematics and English as a second language at Maine Central Institute from 1995 to 2006.
The novel is a mystery set in the months leading up to the 1980 New Hampshire presidential primary, a time when American presidential elections were conducted with integrity, civility, love of country, and a soupçon of crime. Democracy in America was written at a lakeside camp in Weld, Maine.

Dalen Mills wrote, “I haven’t heard via email, snail mail, smoke signals, texts, cell phones, or for the Neanderthals among us, an actual telephone, from anyone regarding anything that any of my classmates want to share. (Would Mrs. Piper like my run on sentence here?)
Guess I scared them all off with my last class note? Well anyway! Hopefully we can get a good turnout at the reunion this year in August and some of us can get off of our replaced hips, knees, assorted other surgeries and head to Pittsfield in August. Please make your plans soon as it just makes it easier for the staff at MCI to plan for us all.
My wife had a broken neck last July and surgeries at ME Med Center in Portland on 7/15 and 9/6 made going anywhere except to see surgeons and follow-ups our “norm.” I just didn’t get to last year’s reunion because of her broken neck. She’s like the bionic woman now! Norby and Chris have had similar things for many, many months of similar scenarios.
While the Mills’s and Young’s wives aren’t quite where we want them to be they are way ahead of where they were last summer/fall, I am happy to report. Liz and I head back to SWH on 5/16 and look forward to rain, cold weather, abnormally high tides, fog, and way too many tourists visiting Acadia National Park.
Bar Harbor locals have voted to limit the cruise ships to no more than 1000 visitors a day and that will actually free up some walking space in Bar Harbor. But it’s still a zoo!!! ’Nuff said about that!!!!! I do have general conversations with Norby, Susan, Vicki, Linda, Kathy, Judy Webster and Rex occasionally.
What we generally start a conversation with is “How ya doin’?” Then WE sit back and listen to the latest on who HAS replaced body parts, or surgeries, friends who are either no longer here or are in living quarters that we all don’t look forward to, OR JUST TRYING TO REMEMBER ANYTHING AT ALL…
I keep trying to get across to all of OUR/YOUR class of ’66 to take part while you can and see classmates you haven’t seen for years or even since graduation! Hope to see some “newbies” at this year’s reunion.

Great turnout for our 55th reunion last August! Lunch on campus, followed by gathering at Ellery Hathorn’s camp on Lake Winnecook and brunch on Sunday at Kathy (Starbird) Warburg’s camp.
Steve and Dora Miles visited us in Winter Haven, FL in February and we had a few nearby friends stop by… Karen Perry and husband Steve, Eleanor (Brooks) Richards, and Gary and Amy Fitts!

Wendy Murdock Esposito writes, “Well, it’s now 54 years since graduation. Holey !! Just wish I could go back and get a different prom dress. Maybe one without long sleeves and a turtleneck when it still might look good. However, at this age, the long sleeves and high turtleneck would be perfect. As for what’s up with me in this past year; I am still making pottery in Unity with my husband Espo. We are not working full-time anymore. We have started offering pottery classes, which has been very successful. We never had time before, and now that we want to semi retire, we added that. Haha. Last year we took our ’16 camper to Florida. It was a great adventure of kayaking and hiking. Next year we are hoping to travel out west. I want to go before it’s too late.
Our two grown daughters are doing great. Melissa, who is an MCI alumna, graduated from massage therapy school in June and now has her own practice in China along with being a PTA for home health care. Our daughter, Carrie, retired from teaching to raise her 2 daughters. She is now coaching soccer and track in NH. We are very proud of them. With 4 grandchildren and still working, we have a very full life. I’m grateful for that. If this is boring, it’s because “Surfer” makes me do it! Have a great year.”
David England wrote, “Hi Classmates, I hope you all survived winter and are enjoying some warm weather. Susan and I spent a long, but cold weekend in February visiting with Wendy (Murdock) and husband Espo at their home in Unity. We always have a great time along with lots of laughs. If you are ever in the area, stop in and visit them at their pottery studio - Unity Pond Pottery. Their pottery is amazing. While in the area we visited with Bill and Karen Cunningham and had lunch with Marcia Bickford. Fun time! Once back home, I met Stephen (Hoxie) Hogkins and Richard (Dick) Adams for a get together in Sutton, MA. I hadn’t seen Dick since our graduation in 1970. He is well and lives in Littleton, MA. Susan Smith England writes, “Hi friends, I hope all is well with you these days and that you are enjoying your summer and the pleasures the warm sunny days bring.
We had a great 50th reunion last August. Between classmates that came to the luncheon on campus as well as those that joined us at the class gathering after, there were about 30-35 members in attendance. We had some long distance travelers - Denise Susi, Skip Osolin, Pam Frati Eggemeyer and Pam Kelley Rogoski along with those of us who live somewhat closer or locally. It was also nice to see classmates from other classes as well.
Added to the weekend events was the recognition of PG Craig Sargent who was honored with MCI’s Distinguished Achievement award at Friday evening’s banquet. All in all, the class of 1973 was well represented at our 50th reunion. We hope that those of you unable to attend will join us for our 55th.”
Richard Davis writes, “I retired in August of 2021 after 37 years of town management in Maine, the last 20 of which were in Farmington. My wife and I bought a 1900 Queen Anne house in Pittsfield in the fall of 2023 and have been doing some renovations. It’s nice to be back in my hometown and reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.”

Buddy Ingraham writes, “Good day class of 1975. Wow! Time sure goes by. It seems we were just marching into Parks gym and off to Suzzie’s camp for our celebration and here we are only one year from our 50th!
I am looking for a committee chair and people to help organize a 50th get-together. The Alumni Association takes care of the on campus activities and offers space for us to get together if needed. We as an Association have events in the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, so keep an eye
on our FB page or the School website. We are seeing so many familiar faces at all these events, so come and enjoy!!!! Also please update your address and email, as we are heading into a digital age and this would be very helpful.
I just heard from Kitty Rogers Trudell, and she has moved to North Carolina in the winter and back to a new spot in NH. She has sold the big house in NH after 38 years. She has informed me that she will join the “new knees club” in June. We wish you well Kitty.
I hear from Brian Duplisea from time to time. He has had health issues with a close call but is on the mend and doing very well. He and his wife Lisa live in Stuart Florida and have a birds-eye view of the Annual Airshow from their new deck.
I am in touch with Matt McGowan and wife Julie often. They live in Waterville with their beloved dog Sir Van Morrison.
Bumped into Ed Buzzle a while back, and he is back in town where he grew up.
Suzie Quint is helping me on the Alumni Association Executive committee and looking forward to being part of the “new knee club”.
Mike and Deb Susi are busy here at MCI and redoing Deb’s family home in Gardiner. I gave Mike a pair of Advent loud speakers that I bought while in high school. Some of you may have had the opportunity to give them a listen in my parents living room. They always got a good work out and sounded great.
I have reached out to Janet Carter Winchester and she is in Etna in a beautiful farm house on the old school house road. Give her a toot when going by on I 95!
I am busy as can be in retirement. I have my associate broker license in Real Estate and have been quite successful in this new venture. My office is in Hallowell but working mostly in the surrounding Pittsfield area. I am the MCI Alumni Association President and as you can see, this keeps me VERY busy. I stay involved in our community and have 2 fantastic grand daughters that I try to spend time with as much as I can. Tammy and I are still on Hamilton Terrace.
I hope to see you at one of our events or at Reunion Weekend the first weekend in August. Golf Sign up is through the Advancement Office as well as all RSVP’s. Be sure to register so we have enough tables for us to all sit together! Be well and see you all soon.

Preston Carter writes: After many decades in the Pacific Northwest, Beth and I retired from our medical practices (hers in Radiology, mine in US Army General Surgery) to fulfill our dream of coming home to Maine. We live not far from the village of Blue Hill, and find plenty to keep busy, both here and at our family property in Etna. We find the pace of life here much more agreeable than had been the case in recent years in the ever-more-crowded Seattle-Tacoma region.
Laurie Holden died last April at his longtime home in Phoenix. Laurie attended MCI for four years as a boarding student from his remote logging camp hometown of Clayton Lake. He moved west after graduation from Northeastern, and spent his career working in the Arizona Department of Highways. At MCI, he was a voracious reader, and keen follower of the political scene.
Dick Pearson wrote: “I was in the Class of 1962. Norby Young, Sr. was on the staff, and that’s all I remember. MCI did a very great job preparing me for acceptance at University of Maine Orono. MCI also did a lot for my early growth and maturity. I went on to graduate from Maine – Class of ‘66. Then I volunteered for the Marine Corps and a tour in Vietnam (13 mos.). I was discharged in 1969 as a Marine Captain. Now I’m on 100% disability. My degree from UMO was in Business Administration and I went into real estate in Portland. I was both an investor and real estate broker and had my own real estate office specializing in Apartment and Commercial brokerage. I had to retire at age 55 due to cancer from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam – bad stuff!

He went on to write “The most enduring memory that I have is the Sphinx ice sculpture that we in the ‘New Dorm’ created. I have a picture of it somewhere of us, in the middle of the night, on and around the sculpture.”
He said he will be thinking of all of us on reunion weekend. He sent 2 pictures of the Sphinx, one with the guys from the ‘New Dorm.’

Our sincere condolences to Judith Hobbs Webster. Thompson Webster ’66 unexpectedly passed away recently. Please keep Judith in your thoughts.
Dalen Mills here, and thanks to Vicki’s retirement from being our class agent, her recommendation of me to take her place was very thoughtful on her part. Something I may never forgive her for!
So, as my first official duty as class agent I can share some long held thoughts about our class.
1. Since 1966 some of us have never taken part in much of anything regarding our old alma mater!
2. I have to think that is a choice you have made for whatever reasons you have. Please consider changing that choice.
3. I hope you will consider our ages now and how many of our classmates have passed away. Our class reunion weekend is a possibility of seeing a classmate/s you haven’t seen in years maybe one last time. Please plan ahead and pencil in August 5 to come to your Reunion class of ’66.
4. I made an observation at my 45th reunion weekend that I was going to try to go to every reunion weekend that I could simply because I wasn’t guaranteed tomorrow and I didn’t want to wait for a zero year or a fifth year to go to a reunion. It has been a good decision as the class of ’66 seems to have a core of 10-15 of us that we look forward to seeing every first weekend in August. Those renewed catching ups are wonderful. I hope you take advantage of our reunion in August of this year to check in, maybe for the first time in years or maybe for the first time ever since your graduation?
5. It’s in the back of a lot of minds that MCI, like any other school, runs on money. I suspect that some of you think that the ol’ alma mater just wants to have you show up to reunions to ask you for money. I have found that to be not so! There is no pushing to donate to MCI at the reunion weekends. You certainly can do that but it’s not a prime directive by any means.
I have found in my own giving that I give to organizations that I feel good about. Ambulance Association in SWH, my church, Red Cross, etc. MCI is one donation that I give to because my three years there changed my life for the better! And I am forever grateful and thankful for that so I give to MCI gladly.
So come to the reunions as time has run out for many of us to just enjoy talking about whatever the heck you want to share, or not, with classmates you may or may not have seen in years. We have lost 61 from the class of ’66. One was David “Red” Allen who was my roommate for 2 years. He came to the reunions as did Randy McPherson, Jimmy Homstead. We all had some great times until we couldn’t! Are there classmates you would like to see one more time? Or more? I hope so.
Class news: Lets hear from you! Please email Sharon at MCI at alumni@mci-school.org or me at dalenmills@me.com for any updates, address changes and especially news from you all.
My wife and I are still driving to Florida in October and Maine in May and will as long as reasonable health allows us to do that. Two years of COVID-19 have certainly been an issue for all of us and we seem of have come around a corner with that. Norby and Chris Young live year around about 5 miles away from Liz and I in SW Harbor and we see each other as much as we can stand, whoops, are able!
The four of us even did a West Coast Viking cruise last spring to LA, San Diego and other stops and finished on Vancouver Island which was a lot of fun. Biggest disappointment was not being able to see Pete Susi as bad weather had us skipping Santa Barbara altogether. One of the highlights was getting together with Gregg Patterson ’69 and his wife Elaine while we were in LA. He and his wife visited with the four of us in SWH last summer and we had the pleasure of showing them the highlights of the area we live in -- plus some fine lobster. Also, on the medical side, I had a total right knee replacement on 12/5. My physical therapy has gone very well and having a pain free knee again is letting me be more active. Pain had limited me for the last couple of years. Liz and I will be in SWH all summer and any classmates in the area we would love to touch bases with. Take care, be safe and healthy.

After much renovation– with the help of lifelong friend, Myron Sobey ‘74– we moved back here seven years ago. In September 2020, I retired from the Waterville USPS, and I am loving the freedom to hunt, fish, and follow the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. My wife, Sharon, and I celebrated forty-four years of marriage in January. Our disabled daughter, Emily, still lives with us. Since her car accident in 2005, and the resulting TBI, she still deals with constant pain, along with other issues. I enjoyed reading Charlie Tryder’s piece; I made him the great catcher he was by blocking my 59’ curve balls my senior year. Thanks, Chuck. We have had a lot of changes in Executive Committee members and I am excited to work with them all to provide an association that is embracing all alumni and friends. If you would like to be part of this, please let myself or Sharon in the Advancement office know.
On a class note: we are coming up to our 50th reunion in a couple of years. I have had a few classmates reach out to me inquiring about our event. The Association does a lot for the celebrating classes, and we will take them up on these offerings. Matt McGowan has offered to work with a committee to put all of this together. Please reach out if you are interested in being on the committee.
We have some very exciting things going on at the School. New Association members, new Head of School David Pearson and Tom Bertrand as new Advancement Head. He is also the Assistant Head of School. It is a pleasure to work with Tom in his new role.
Please visit our website for information on upcoming events and alumni news.
Also, a quick note to the Cianchette family. They have our heartfelt condolences in the passing of Ken Cianchette. Everyone in our class was touched by him in one way or another and we keep the family in our thoughts and prayers.
I have received notice that Kitty Rogers Trudell has moved from her longtime residence in NH to the Carolina’s to be closer to her granddaughters.
I now have 2 granddaughters that like many are the light of my life. Mike Susi has picked up stakes and is remodeling Deb’s family home in Gardiner. You can still see Mike on Campus while Deb is still here at MCI, doing a fantastic job with the Arts.
Keep in mind we have an annual meeting on Reunion Weekend so watch for the event calendar and also get signed up for Golf, The Awards Celebration, and the Saturday luncheon, and meet us under the tent on Friday night for some live music, dancing and socializing with classmates and friends.
Thanks and best to all”

Martin MacGown writes: “After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1999, we relocated back to Maine from North Carolina, where I finished my grad degree in Management Information Systems and went to work in the field of Healthcare Information Technology (acronym HIT). I finally checked off my bucket list “to become a HITman! But I digress... though I’m pushing close to what many consider to be retirement age, I’m having a grand time as a software consultant, and plan to continue in this endeavor until I forget how to turn my computer on. I was traveling significantly prior to the “pandemic,” commuting regularly between home in Maine and neat places like Northern Idaho, Chicago, and Florida; however, when things went haywire in 2020, I’ve been able to work from home nearly 100% of the time, which has been fantastic (I love the morning commute).”

I married my best friend, became an Ordained Minister, completed my Bachelor of Christian Leadership degree, became a certified Life Coach, moved to Texas together with my wife, and founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Matthew’s Light. We are working to end homelessness and food insecurities in the greater Houston area. The future has a vision of sleep pods for the homeless, a sustainable homeless
community with services to give the homeless community a hand up, and eventually the 91st Refuge which will be a tiny village for military veterans with all the specialized services that they require. The future is shining bright with the Glory of God lighting the way.”

The ANA office is completely virtual allowing me flexibility to live and work from anywhere, so the Orffer household is relocating to Mesa, Arizona where we can enjoy sunshine and warmth in exchange for the Seattle rain and gray clouds. I am thrilled to represent academic neurologists and scientists as they work to create a world free from neurologic disease. In other news, our youngest daughter, Arianna, is getting married this summer, and our oldest is contemplating offers to attend law school in the fall. We are proud of our children and hopeful for bright futures for both of them. The bright future I have enjoyed since graduating from MCI is partly attributed to the education, motivation, inspiration, and support I received as a student there.”

Vicki Boetsch writes, “Weather has been beautiful here in midcoast Maine. Shortly after Alumni Weekend, I was t-boned in a car crash in Rockport that resulted in a severe concussion. However, recovery with lots of help, has me riding my horse, driving a car, and relearning this “digital world” again.
Alumni weekend was great, especially seeing Rex Fowler accept his well-earned Distinguished Achievement Award from Anna Parker. I understand he went on to receive more awards throughout New England and in the music world. Many of us danced away Friday evening to the music of Aztec Two-Step 2.0 along with Leon Southard ’64’s introductory great trumpet music.
Norbert Young’s familiar face around campus was greatly missed that weekend as he was learning the role of caregiver to his lovely wife, Christine, who was in the hospital in Bangor. Since then, Norby has been busy renovating their home in Duck Harbor in preparation for her return. I look forward to visiting them over the Holidays.
Dalen Mills and his wife Liz have returned to their Florida home.

On a lighter note, my brother, Chris (Kip) Boetsch ’69 spent two weeks with his Wild Hog Harley Davidson Riders out in the Colorado Rockies (I guess that’s where they were!). Lastly, my brother, Greg Boetsch ’65, has become a noted trapper in the Megunticook Watersheds of Knox and Waldo Counties.

From Sharon Hanson Ringuette: Sadly, Cheryl Foster Duplessis passed away last Tuesday (September 27) evening around 11 pm. I am told she was comfortable until the end. I am so sad. We were friends for a long time and kindred spirits in many ways. I am so sad there was no celebration of her life anywhere nor did they put anything in the obituary other than family information. It's like she just vanished. She had a wonderful, full, productive life and was still working for The Birches in Rockwood doing all of their finances. Believe me, I think they must be scrambling to replace Cheryl. She was the salutatorian of the class, a very smart woman. I will hold all of our memories close to my heart.

This October marks the 35th anniversary of the ministry of the Reverend Scott Jones. Reverend Jones was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from the Bangor Theological Seminary in 1987. During his years at the seminary he was a student minister in the First Universalist Church in Dexter as well as the First Universalist Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft. After graduation he served several churches in Massachusetts before returning to Maine 30 years ago where he has served small town congregations in West Summer, Oakland, Castine, and most recently Sangerville and Dexter which has brought him full circle. In those 35 years, he has delivered too many sermons to count and conducted over 200 weddings and 300 funerals.

The Big news to share, is that Greg Saunders and I will be embarking on a cross country trip to his winter home in Mesa (Outside of Phoenix) Arizona, hauling his 40' 5th wheel... An adventure for sure in the making ....Route 66 is in our sights, as well as Vegas.... will be back around the end of November.... It's entitled "The Reunion", and is on Amazon.com. Off and on for about 7 years I have been in research to decipher the codes of the market makers in order to trade to "ES" which is the S&P 500 e-mini futures. I am frightfully close during a time when the markets are just crazy. The whole world is a bit crazy now and we are transitioning into a realm that we don't even know what it is yet. It's both scary and exciting. I spend the afternoons taking care of my 98 year old mom who has Alzheimer's Disease. Our Power Ball lottery has surpassed 1 billion dollars and I don't have a ticket”.

I spend my days caring for my daughter Kayleigh who has many medical issues and behavioral issues. I was able to attend the 50th reunion and reconnected with many classmates. Would love to hear from even more because I don't get out much but do have email, or a phone if you want to call. Thanks to those who kept in touch.”
Colleen Peterson Seremet writes, “I’m thoroughly enjoying retirement, splitting my time between home in Maryland and my summer place in Maine. Although my three grandsons keep me busy with cheering on their activities, I find time for some long-awaited bucket list travel. I visited Norway and the UK in April 2022 and have a river cruise from Amsterdam to Plague planned for Spring 2023. As always, I look forward to seeing friends at our annual reunion!’

I currently reside in Machias while house hunting. I had held many positions with various companies working transportation, agriculture, winter sports and food processing. During that time I have seen many of my dreams come true and bucket lists filled (some dreams are STILL coming true). I formally retired on 1 Jan. 20, but in March of this year wound up getting bored enough that I went back to work in a less stressful environment down here on the coast. I have stopped by the old campus a few times for a quick drive by, but it was always during a road trip or some other mission that gave me an excuse to head out of town (whichever town that happened to be at the time).”

My life, so far, has been absolutely wonderful! I finished Tufts Medical School in Boston, trained in General Surgery, found a wonderful wife and left for a plastic surgery residency in Birmingham, AL in 1985. After a short stent in academic medicine, returned to Birmingham in private practice. My wife and I raised two sons, one an attorney, the older son a plastic surgeon (he will start practicing with me in June 2023) – priceless!
I am nearing retirement and plan more visits to Pittsfield in the future. All the best to you and the MCI family!”

My youngest daughter Delaney is a Junior in the Physical Therapy program at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida, which was recently hit by Hurricane Ian. The school is relatively new, so it faired very well in the storm. They only missed a week of classes.

Class Agent Description
MCI Class Agents
MCI is committed to staying connected to its alumni. Class agency is designed to be one of the ways to facilitate and maintain those important connections. Class Agents enhance communication with our alumni, provide valuable information about services, events, and MCI happenings and give our alumni a way to share news about their lives. Alumni Class Agent communication provides a more meaningful and personalized outreach to our alumni. Class Agents serve as a vital part of the connection process as a liaison between the School, Trustees, Alumni Association, community, and our alumni.
Role of the Class Agent
-
The role of Class Agents is “friend-raising” (NOT fundraising) with their class.
-
Maintain a relationship between your class/classmates and the school.
-
Request updated contact information and news from classmates, and share that with the MCI Advancement Office, so we can keep our alumni information updated and accurate. Updated information should include information about class members to MCI (address/phone/email changes, deaths, etc). Share this link with classmates so they can update their information if necessary: Update your Information
-
Share information with your classmates regarding news from the school and the Alumni Association. Encourage class to follow our social media platforms to stay on top of the exciting things happening at MCI. Links are provided in the resources section below.
-
Champion your classmates’ participation in Association and school events, such as: Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, Milestone Class Reunions, Alumni and Friends of the School Meetups, and other fun social and networking activities by promoting them.
Key Support Ideas

-

-
Make sure your classmates are receiving the Alumni Magazine and the monthly Alumni Newsletters written by the Head of School and request and forward personal news from them.
-
Assist in the recruitment of volunteer’s annual events such as Homecoming and Reunion Weekends, your milestone Class Reunions and your replacement as Class Agent when the time comes.
-

-
Help to promote the Alumni Association’s Annual Golf Scramble and other fundraiser events to ensure the Association has enough funds to cover the cost of its scholarships and Class Tee Shirts for graduating Seniors as well as organize social events for alumni to attend.
