MCI Announces Hall of Fame and Distinguished Achievement Recipients

MCI is pleased to announce that this year's Hall of Fame recipients are trustee Tania Rogers Carnrick '73, trustee emeritus Ryan Fendler '45 and long-time class agent Catherine "Kaye" Doyle Mooers '53. This year's Alumni Association Distinguished Achievement Award recipient is Donn Fendler '44. Please save the date and make plans to celebrate with them on Friday, August 2 at 4:30 p.m. during Reunion Weekend.

Dinner and a Ballet on Mothers Day!

Treat Mom (and yourself) to “Dinner and a Ballet” this Mother’s Day! Bossov Ballet has teamed up with Vittles Restaurant in Pittsfield on Sunday, May 12. The ballet will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Wright Gymnasium and afterwards audience members can go to Vittles for dinner. Tickets for the ballet are $6, with a $1 discount for making a reservation at Vittles. Tickets are available from Vittles or by calling 487-6360. They will also be sold at the door.

MCI's Vocal Jazz Wins First in State

MCI's Vocal Jazz Ensemble "Caravan" earned first in the state in the Division II Jazz Choirs at the State Jazz Festival on Saturday! The Rhythm Section (Earth Vorachattarn '13, Joseph Yeh '13, Ashley McFarland '14) received the award for Outstanding Rhythm Section- Division II Jazz Choir and Sarah LaGross '13 received one of four individual vocalist awards for Division II Jazz Choirs.

MCI Key Club raising money for Pennies for Patients

On Friday, February 1st, the MCI Key Club will join the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s campaign Pennies for Patients. The LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. In the United States, more than 12,000 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; approximately 3,000 of them will not survive the disease. In response, the Key Club will use the month of February to raise money for Pennies for Patients.

In 2011, LLS invested more than $76 million in blood cancer research. Thanks in part to innovative research funded by LLS and the fundraising effort of donors like Pennies for Patients schools, survival rates have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled for blood cancer patients. All donations will be spent on patient and community services, research, public health and professional education.
