COMMENCEMENT AND SENIOR ACTIVITY INFORMATION

Join us at Maine Central Institute as we celebrate our 2017 graduation!

Please view the schedule of events and the commencement photo information.

Senior marching practice will be conducted Wednesday, May 31, from 8:30-11 :00 a.m. and 12:15-1:45 p.m.; Thursday, June 1, from 8:30-10:00 a.m.; and Friday, June 2, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.  These practices are mandatory for all seniors; students failing to attend them jeopardize their eligibility to participate in Commencement. Also, please remind your senior to wear the same shoes that he/she will be wearing at Commencement for marching practice.

Please reinforce with your senior that all books and other school property must be returned to the bookstore (iPads and all accessories returned to the IT office) and all seniors must complete an exit interview with their academic counselor no later than Tuesday, May 30. We cannot issue caps and gowns until these requirements are met. Your help is greatly appreciated.

On Thursday, June 1, the seniors will travel to Lake George State Park in Canaan for a cookout. School transportation is provided by MCI and required of those attending (i.e. students must ride the bus). The school provides this activity especially for the senior class and all seniors are encouraged to attend.

Commencement tickets will be distributed Wednesday, May 31. Each senior may request up to six reserved seats. Commencement is planned for the front lawn, with both reserved and unreserved seating available. In case of inclement weather, it will take place in Wright Gymnasium with unreserved seating available in the bleachers. Please complete the ticket request form located on the enclosed schedule of events and return by Friday, May 19.

Senior Chapel will be held on Friday, June 2, beginning at 1 :00 p.m. in Wright Gymnasium. Appropriate attire is required by all seniors at Senior Chapel and Commencement. Males need to wear a dress shirt and tie, dress slacks, colored socks and dress shoes, and their cap and gown. Females need to be dressed in their cap and gown, dresses or skirts (white or light pastel) and dress shoes or leather sandals. Sneakers or flip-flops are not allowed for either males or females.

Commencement will begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday, June 4 on the Boutelle Savage Lawn (or in Wright Gym if there is inclement weather) preceded by the graduation brunch from 9:00 - 11 :00 a.m. in the dining hall. The brunch is available to all seniors and their families. The junior class, in conjunction with the school, co-sponsors this activity.

As a reminder, the Senior Class Will and presentation of achievement certificates will take place at the last senior school meeting on Tuesday, May 23 (2:00 p.m. in Parks Gym) and all scholarships will be presented at Senior Chapel, as well as the faculty fellowships.

If you have questions regarding any aspect of the graduation activities, feel free to contact Kelly McCormick at your earliest convenience at 207-487-3593. We look forward to a safe and successful graduation week!
