Welcome to the Maine Central Institute website, where you can read about and see some pictures of the
many people, places and programs which make this close-knit community such a wonderful place to live and learn.
On our beautiful campus in Pittsfield, Maine, students and teachers from down the street and around the world come together—in the classroom and the dormitories, on the playing fields and the stage, for music recitals, meals and all-school meetings—in an academic environment that is at once nurturing and challenging.
What do we promise at MCI?
* Academic Excellence:
Highly qualified, skilled and caring teachers who are role models and mentors. A math program, for instance, which regularly produces top Advanced Placement scores.
* Character Development:
Young people experience daily the lessons and examples of what it means to be a responsible citizen in both the MCI and global communities.
From the moment they arrive on campus, students are motivated to take positive risks and to hone the skills they’ll need to lead others in their future endeavors.
The chance to become lifelong friends with individuals from around the world. To try a new sport, club, musical instrument. The school has something for everyone, whether you arrive a beginner or expert.
Maine Central Institute graduates move on to college, the workplace, to their lives after MCI with the confidence, self-esteem, and tools they need not only to succeed in their work but to lead fulfilling, rewarding lives. They become a part of an alumni base of over 8,000 loyal individuals who keep in touch with each other and with the school they love.
The school is located less than 60 minutes from Bangor, Waterville and Augusta. Freeport (home of L.L. Bean) and Portland are just 90 minutes away, and Boston just 3.5 hours down Interstate 95. The beautiful coast of Maine is close by, as are numerous lakes and ski areas.
Enjoy your visit to our website. Schedule a visit to our campus. We’re confident you’ll like what you see and learn and hopeful you’ll want to become a part of the MCI family!
