| MCI is continuing to focus on environmental sustainability initiatives on campus and within the school community. Check out some of our current initiatives below.

| Buildings and Grounds
| - Use Student Garden that teaches sustainability and provides food to the cafeteria
- 100% organic lawn care program
- All custodial services are on current green standards
- Perform constant energy upgrades including:
- Replacement windows
- Additional insulation
- Newer efficient boilers
- 7 day programmable thermostats
- Converted High Bay light to efficient super T8 in both gymnasiums
- One of the top 10 recyclers in the town of Pittsfield with recycling in every building on campus
- Use geothermal heating system in our Math and Science building

| Food Services
| - Recycle all paper, plastic and glass
- Utilize vegetable trim and plate scraps for a local pig farmer to help offset his feed cost
- Use as much produce from MCI Student Garden as is grown which equals less fossil fuels to deliver imported produce
- Supply a local entrepreneur with the used deep fryer oil for conversion to bio-diesel processed here in Pittsfield
- Estimated recycling effort is greater than 95%
