Mission Statement

MCI pledges to provide a rigorous, comprehensive educational program to a multicultural student body with a wide range of abilities and interests. In a safe and caring atmosphere, students will acquire knowledge, self-esteem, social responsibility, and the critical thinking and communication skills necessary for global citizenship and lifelong learning.

MCI is a comprehensive school open to those who choose to attend as long as they will not adversely impact the safety within the school community or disrupt the school day.

The school deeply values the diverse makeup of its school community and encourages the continuing effort to bring individuals from every possible cultural and/or economic background to the school. Thus, the school is truly able to celebrate the diversity of the world.

• Community and Family
The sense of community and family, not only within the school itself, but also in the greater community, is a critical value of the school.

• Standards of Excellence
A high level of rigor and expectation of excellence in all components of the school's operation is critical, whether that be the academic program, the residential program, the co-curricular activities or the overall support system at the school.

The people at MCI work diligently to focus on each student as an individual to ensure that every person grows academically, socially and physically and becomes a global citizen.

• Independence
MCI's status as an independent school is critical to the continued operation of the institution. We are extremely proud of our founding as a private Maine academy. This foundation upon which we have built for 141 years must never be sacrificed.
