Graduation Requirements and Pathway Choices  

MCI Graduation Requirements:

In order to be granted an MCI diploma, a student must complete four years of study including: The Manson Essay, A Senior Project, and a total of 20 credits:

Of these 20 credits the following (17 credits) are required credits:
English: 4 Credits
History: 3 Credits
Science: 4 Credits
Math: 4 Credits
P.E.: 1 Credit (made up of P.E.1 and P.E. 2)
Health: 1/2 Credit
Computer: 1/2 Credit
Fine Art: 1 Credit


Examples of Curriculum Pathways to Post-Secondary Options: If you are looking to enter:

a)    4-Year Competitive College:

4 years of Honors/AP Humanities
4 years of College Preparatory Mathematics (Algebra I/CP, Geometry/CP, Algebra II/CP, Advanced Mathematics, AP Calculus)
4 years of College Preparatory Science (Earth and Space Science, Integrated Science II (Biology), Chemistry/CP, Physics/CP, (also AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and AP
Biology if available)
4 years of the same Foreign Language
1 year of Fine Arts
1 year of Physical Education
1/2 year of Health
1/2 year of Computer
Assorted electives in social sciences, human development, fine arts, and science
*College classes are highly recommended for top students as well

b) a 4-year College:
4 years of College Preparatory Humanities
4 years of College Preparatory Mathematics (Algebra I/CP, Geometry/CP, Algebra II/CP, Advanced Mathematics)
4 years of College Preparatory Science (Earth and Space Science, Integrated Science II (Biology), Chemistry/CP, Physics/CP)
2-3 years of the same Foreign Language

*Encouraged to join the Vocational Program or Cooperative Education Program. The Academic Counselors can also work around schedules of those students looking to
enter a 2 or 4-year college and those who may want to enroll in a vocational program at Skowhegan Regional Vocational Center.

The decisions that students and parents make in their choice of courses in the sequence of courses are most important. Choices made for the freshmen and
sophomore years will strongly affect the options available for the junior and senior years. Students and parents should also know exactly where the student
stands (credit total) at the end of each year.
